Renowned hip hop artist Snoop Dog has joined the esports organisation FaZe Clan.

According to a statement shared on the official FaZe Clan website, Snoop is set to join the company’s board of directors when it goes public later this year.

The 50-year-old will also “co-create content, participate in key business initiatives and launch merchandise”.

In addition to his music career, Snoop has become increasingly well established in the gaming industry, providing voice-over work in titles such as Call of Duty: Ghosts and Madden NFL 20.

Boasting a Twitch channel with over 654,000 followers, Snoop already claims his own avid gaming audience to absorb into the FaZe Clan, joining other celebrity stars like LeBron James and Offset.

Changing his Twitter name to FaZe Snoop, the rapper announced the news through an animated video of a dog playing video games, interspersed with some of the top clips from his Twitch channel.

Explaining the move, Snoop said that his son Cordell played a large part in his decision to join the organisation: “It only makes sense to partner with FaZe Clan as both a team member and on the Board of Directors. The youth identifies with their brand and that’s something my son Cordell knew, which is why he brought us together.”

“As I’ve been watching what FaZe Clan has been building in the gaming space, I knew there was a natural connection with what my dad has been doing,” stated Cordell Broadus.

“When I look at the two brands, I was inspired by the synergy they could create so I brought them together in this partnership. I can’t wait for the world to see what we are about to do.”
