‘Sopranos’ Prequel Gets It’s First Trailer

The first trailer for the Sopranos prequel film, The Many Saints of Newark, has been released.
The film follows young Anthony Soprano (Michael Gandolfini), growing up in one of the most tumultuous ears of Newark’s history. Rival gangsters rise up to challenge the all-powerful DiMeo crime family and Dicki Moltisanti (Alessandro Nivola), Anthony’s uncle, is caught in the middle of it. Struggling to manage his professional and personal responsibilities, Dickie will help mold his nephew into the powerful crime boss we all know – Tony Soprano.
Reoccurring Sopranos director, Alan Taylor has directed this newest feature. Taylor is also known for his work on films including Terminator Genisys and Thor: The Dark World.
Michael Gandolfini inherits the role of Anthony Soprano from his late father James Gandolfini. James passed away in 2013 but portrayed Soprano throughout the original series.
Other cast members include Leslie Odom Jr., Ray Liotta, Joey Diaz, Vera Farmiga, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen and John Magaro.
The new trailer introduces Soprano as an intelligent but unmotivated young man, struggling to secure good grades at school. Despite a desire to attend college, Soprano falls under the influence of his uncle and his descent into crime begins.
The Many Saints of Newark will release on October 1.
