Squid Game director Hwang Dong-hyuk has revealed he’s working on a much more violent new project than the hit Netflix series.

Speaking during a session at MipTV along with his producer Jun Young Jang at February Films, Hwang said he’s developing new film Killing Old People, which is based on a novel by Italian essayist Umberto Eco.

“It will be more violent than ‘Squid Game,’” teased Hwang, adding that he might have to hide it from old people, per Variety.

The project currently has the working title K.O. Club.

Hwang is also working on the second season of Squid Game and confirmed that he hopes it will be streaming by the end of 2024.

The director stated he will soon be flying back to South Korea to start writing on the second season.

Elsewhere, Hwang revealed last month that actress Jung-Ho-yeon could return in Squid Game season two as a twin. You can read more about this here.
