Stephen Amell Cut An Interview Short After Suffering Panic Attack

Stephen Amell suffered a severe panic attack during the recording of an interview. 

The Arrow star had to cut the interview short and abruptly leave as he began suffering a panic attack.

In a heroic move, the 38-year-old returned to the location where his panic attack started, to finish off the interview that he started.

During the first part of the interview with Smallville star Michael Rosenbaum, Amell said that he’d “cried twice” that day, as he explained he was struggling with ending the Arrow series.

Stephen went on to say, “my wife forced me to go to the doctor’s today because she was worried that something was actually wrong with me.” — shortly before feeling ill and leaving the studio.

Rosenbaum asked if Amell was planning to seek professional help to enable him to deal with what Stephen described as a “state of mourning.” to which he replied, “Is it hot in here, or am I sweating?” and just as Michael went to open a window, the Amell said, “Honestly, I think I might be sick. I have to do, I need some fresh air.” before promptly leaving the interview.

The actor returned a few weeks later to complete the interview, where he discussed in great detail about his panic attack and the realisation that he had yet to fully “disconnect” from the “Arrow” chapter of his life. He said in the second interview, “Realising nothing was f****** wrong with me and that’s when you have the moment of realisation like, ‘Oh my god, it’s in my head,”

His wife has been a huge support throughout his transition in his career, moving away from a character that he played for the last 7 years. Amell said, “You want to fix it immediately but that’s not the way it works.”

Promoting the podcast on social media, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows actor wrote, “I did Rosey’s podcast after Arrow ended. We had to cut it short because I had a full on panic attack. It wasn’t pretty. I came back a few weeks ago to chat about it. I was in a really bad spot and I’m happy to report that I’m doing much better.”
