Taylor Swift Says She “Cried” Watching US Gymnast Simone Biles

Taylor Swift has praised Olympic gymnast Simone Biles saying she “cried” watching her compete.

Swift’s comments came in response to Biles thanking her for a short promotional video which the singer commentated. The video highlighted some of Biles‘ impressive athletic feats and features a song from Swift’s album, Folklore.

“I’m crying.” Wrote Biles on Twitter, followed by a heart emoji. “How special. I love you @taylorswift13“.

“I cried watching YOU. I feel so lucky to have gotten to watch you all these years,” Responded an impassioned Swift. “But this week was a lesson in emotional intelligence and resilience. We all learned from you. Thank you.”

Biles drew global attention with her decision to withdraw from several Olympic finals, citing a struggle with “the twisties”. The term refers to a sudden psychological block experienced by gymnasts which can cause competitors to make dramatic mistakes and incur injury.

Making a return earlier this week, the 24-year-old secured a bronze medal for the individual balance beam.
