Lionsgate has released a new trailer for the upcoming sci-fi disaster film, Moonfall.

The film is helmed by veteran apocalypse director, Roland Emmerich.

After the moon is knocked from its orbit and sent hurtling towards Earth, an astronaut named Jo Fowler believes she has the key to save the planet. Believed only by her colleague, Brian Harper, and conspiracy theorist, KC Houseman, the trio must launch a space mission to save the world.

Halle Berry stars in the new picture, joined by Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor, Carolina Bartczak and Donald Sutherland.

In the new trailer, audiences are treated to the voice of Sutherland explaining that a cover-up followed the Apollo 11 mission. Jumping into some typical Emmerich-style disaster shots, Sutherlands says it’s, “Too late to stop.”

Launching into space to save the day are Fowler, Harper and Houseman, who quickly reveal that the moon is not all it seems. Flying through its centre, it appears the moon is completely hollow, save for mysterious metal structures.

Moonfall arrives in cinemas on February 4, 2022.
