The Weeknd Says He’s Considering Changing His Name

The Weeknd has suggested he might follow in the footsteps of Kanye West and change his name.
In a series of social media posts on Sunday, The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, revealed he was thinking of “pulling a Ye” and changing his stage name to ABEL.
“you guys are hilarious. i feel like i should change my stage name to ABEL at this point lol. Maybe pull a YE and just legally change my name to ABEL. no last name. Like Madonna or Cher or Prince. I don’t know it seems like a lot,” Tesfaye wrote on Twitter.
The Canadian singer-songwriter later wrote a follow up tweet asking his followers: “ABEL formally known as The Weeknd?”
John Legend subsequently replied, saying that “ABEL is dope” to which Tesfaye replied “I’m tempted.”
