UFC’s Cain Velasquez Arrested For Alleged Attempted Murder

UFC’s Cain Velasquez was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Monday (February 28).
TMZ reports that the 39-year-old is alleged to have been involved in a shooting in San Jose at approximately 3pm.
“The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation at this time,” stated the police. While details surrounding the incident remain sparse, one person was reportedly shot.
Velasquez won the UFC heavyweight title from Brock Lesnar in 2010, losing it to Junior dos Santos in 2011. He regained the title from dos Santos in 2012, before it was claimed by Fabricio Werdum in 2015.
He also competed in the UFC between 2008 and 2019, before debuting in the WWE.
Velasquez will appear in court on Wednesday and remains in custody as of Tuesday morning.
