The United States Women’s National Team ended their year with a return to Australia, and now they’re kicking 2022 off with a training camp in Texas.
Head coach, Vlatko Andonovksi, has called up twenty-five players for the camp that will run from January 19 to January 28.
And much like the group of players who embarked on a double header down under in December 2021, this roster has an equally fresh and youthful look to it.
“Without any matches that we need to taper for, we can get in some more intense trainings and full-field scrimmages, which is great as we need to give this group as many chances as possible to play together in a National Team environment,” said Andonovski.
It is a first senior call-up for Washington Spirit forward Trinity Rodman on the back of a successful NWSL season that saw her earn 2021 Rookie of the Year and U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year.
The Mewis sisters – Kristie and Sam – are among the experienced crop of players called up, which also includes Alyssa Naeher, Abby Dahlkemper, Lynn Williams and others.
