Zooey Deschanel: Husband Files For Divorce

Zooey Deschanel is getting a divorce from her husband.

Jacob Pechenik has filed legal documentation, seen by unCrazed, requesting the former couple are legally separated.

On Tuesday he filed the documents citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for ending their marriage. He did ask for both joint legal and physical custody of the children, Elsie, 4, and Charlie, 2.

Last month New Girl star and Jacob announced they were separating after 4 years of marriage, saying, “After much discussion and a long period of contemplation we have decided we are better off as friends, business partners and co-parents rather than life partners.”

They met on the set of Rock the Kasbah, a Bill Murray comedy before they had two children together. It will be Zooey’s second divorce after she split from the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie, Ben Gibbard, in 2012.

On Monday, the 39-year-old posted her first picture with new boyfriend Jonathan Scott on Instagram.
