Jeff Bezos Has Officially Stepped Down As Amazon CEO

Jeff Bezos has officially stepped down as the CEO of Amazon ahead of the launch of Blue Origin rocket on July 20.

Last month Bezos revealed he would be stepping down as Amazon CEO shortly before the launch of Blue Origins New Shepard rocket which he and his brother Mark will fly to space on.

Andy Jassy, Amazon’s cloud chief will take over the company as CEO whilst Bezos shifts focus to his space company Blue Origin.

Bezos founded Amazon 27 years ago which started out as an online bookstore before expanding to sell a wide verity of e-commerce products.

In a letter to Amazon staff Bezos said he had “full confidence” in Jassy and that he will be an “outstanding leader.”

Bezos also talked about his future plans after stepping down saying: “I will also have the time and energy I need to focus on the Day 1 Fund, the Bezos Earth Fund, Blue Origin, The Washington Post, and my other passions.”
