Brendan Fraser Cast As Villain In ‘Batgirl’

Brendan Fraser is the latest star to join DC’s upcoming Batgirl film.

According to Deadline, Fraser is touted to play the infamous supervillain, Firefly.

Also recently cast was Jacob Scipio, who will fill an unspecified role in the film. They are joined by Leslie Grace, who will play the titular heroine Barbara Gordon, a.k.a. Batgirl, and her on-screen father Jim Gordon, played by J.K. Simmons.

The feature will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, whose past work includes Bad Boys for Life. Kristin Burr will produce the film, written by Christina Hodson.

Fraser is best known for starring as Rick O’Connell in The Mummy franchise. Most recently, he has wrapped production on a new psychological film, The Whale, and is currently filming for Killers of the Flower Moon and Brothers.

Batgirl will be exclusively released on HBO Max.
