Bryce Dallas Howard To Direct Reboot Of Disney Classic

Bryce Dallas Howard is to direct a reboot of Disney’s sci-fi classic, Flight of the Navigator.

According to Deadline, Howard will not only direct but produce the feature. John Swartz and Justin Springer will also produce with Howard.

The reboot is touted as a “re-imagining” which will feature a female lead.

Joey Cramer starred in the 1986 original, alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Veronica Cartwright. The story follows a boy who travels eight years into the future and begins an epic adventure with a sentient alien spaceship, named Max.

The 40-year-old actress and filmmaker has featured in an array of big blockbuster films – on both sides of the camera. Her more recent acting roles include Rocketman, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Pete’s Dragon. She is currently working on Apple’s new spy thriller, Argylle.

Howard has previously worked with Disney to direct two episodes of The Mandalorian. She is also pegged to direct upcoming episodes of The Book of Boba Fett.
