David Oyelowo To Produce Disney’s ‘The Rocketeer’ Remake

David Oyelowo is on board to produce a remake of Disney classic, The Rocketeer.

According to Deadline, Oyelowo may also star in the new revival. He produces alongside his wife, Jessica Oyelowo, under their company, Yoruba Saxon Productions.

Ed Ricourt will pen the script for the revival.

The original film, directed by Joe Johonson, was released in 1991 and was based on a comic book by Dave Stevens. The story followed a young pilot whose discovery of a jetpack allows him to become a flying masked hero.

Oyelowo is best known for his portrayal of Martin Luther King Jr. in ‘Selma‘. The 45-year-old actor and filmmaker has also starred in ‘A United Kingdom‘, ‘Gringo‘ and ‘Come Away‘. His next on-screen appearances will be in Nate Walker’s new drama, ‘Solitary‘ and Tom George’s upcoming feature, ‘See How They Run‘.
