‘Die Hard’ Prequel Is No Longer Happening

The Die Hard prequel ‘McClane‘ is no longer happening at Disney, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has confirmed.

In a recent interview with Polygon, Lorenzo was asked about the McClane prequel and whether or not it was still happening.

“Yeah, no, it’s not happening,” the producer said.

“But what was really interesting was we actually came up with an idea to do it. It was a project that wasn’t Die Hard that then, eventually, shifted over,” he added.

McClane was first announced in 2015 and was to be produced by Fox with Bruce Willis returning to play John McClane.

The film would have given fans a true Die Hard experience whilst also exploring the characters past.

“What was interesting about our idea was it allowed you the ability to meet the young John McClane.”

Although Lorenzo confirmed that the prequel isn’t going ahead anymore, he also added that he was unsure of the franchise’s future as a whole under Disney which acquired Fox in 2019.
