Ewan McGregor Stars In New Netflix Fashion Biopic

Ewan McGregor takes the lead role of Roy Halston Frowick in Ryan Murphy‘s new five-part miniseries, Halston, to the dismay of the real life Halston family.
Roy Halston Frowick – better known as Halston – was a 1970’s designer that gained popularity after designing the famous inauguration pillbox hat worn by Jacqueline Kennedy.
The designer also had ties to the era’s icons, including Liza Minnelli, Bianca Jagger, and Andy Warhol.
McGregor confessed to knowing nothing about the iconic designer but soon became fascinated with the complexities of how the designer dealt with life and his addictions.
As part of preparation for the role, the 50-year-old actor learned to sew and has made trousers.

Though the show has been well received by some of those that knew Halston, the same cannot be said for some members of Halston‘s family.
Lesley Frowick has told WWD that the series, full of cocaine snorting, models, and lavish spending, is not an accurate representation of the real Halston.
‘They did not approach us at all so this is in fact an unauthorized series about my uncle’s life”
McGregor, in an interview with the Associated Press, has reacted to the families displeasures.
He tells that “such care” was taken whilst making the series and he is unsure “what it is that they’re not happy about.”
Ewan McGregor says he’s saddened by news that the family of late fashion designer Halston has expressed disapproval of @Netflix‘s new series. McGregor says “care” was put into the show and his role as the designer.
