New Blumhouse horror Halloween Kills has topped the weekend box office, raking in $50.4 million.

The film is a follow up to 2018’s slasher Halloween, and functions as the twelfth instalment in the titular franchise. Continuing on from the last film, the story follows Laurie Strode and her family as they continue to battle Michael Myers on Halloween night.

Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her starring role, accompanied by James Jude Courtney, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, Anthony Michael Hall, Dylan Arnold, Charles Cyphers and Kyle Richards.

According to Variety, Halloween Kills marks one of the most successful box office weekends for a film that debuted simultaneously in cinemas and on-demand. It was released on October 15.
