‘His Dark Materials’ Season 3 In Production

Filming for the third and final season of ‘His Dark Materials‘ has begun in England and Wales.

Deadline reports that filming has started in Wolf Studios, Wales.

The series is based on a trilogy of books written by Philip Pullman, following the adventures heroine, Lyra and her friend, Will.

His Dark Materials is produced by the BBC and HBO. Season 3 is being directed by Armit Gupta, Charles Martin and Weronika Tofilksa.

Returning cast member, James McAvoy, spoke about the new season on The One Show.

“What can I tell you? It’s war. At the end of the second season we sort of declare war on the Kingdom of Heaven, so yeah it gets pretty down and dirty, and there’s gonna be a lot of fisticuffs and a lot of explosions and all that stuff. But at it’s heart it’s about a wee girl and a wee boy… and not the adults with the egos.”

Joining McAvoy are returning cast members Ruth Wilson, Dafne Keen, Amir Wilson, Simone Kirby, Will Keen, Jade Anouka and Ruta Gedminstas.

New cast members include Jamie Ward, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Simon Harrison, Chipo Chung and Amber Fitzgerald-Woolfe.
