Jada Pinkett Smith has made her first red carpet appearance since her husband Will Smith’s Academy Awards debacle.

Stepping out on Saturday evening, Jada looked stunning for the grand opening of the Rhimes Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles – the new home of the Debbie Allen Dance Academy.

Dressed in a glittering gold strapless gown with matching earrings and red lipstick, Jada shared a closer look at her ensemble with fans on Instagram, writing: “@therealdebbieallen said wrap it all in gold and come let the kids fill your soul. Congrats Debbie on the opening of your Debbie Allen Dance Academy @officialdadance!”

“You are the legacy that so many other legacies will stand upon. Thank you for ALL that you do.”

According to Broadway World, the new performing arts centre will feature a so-called flying aerial studio named in honour of Jada and her husband, Will. Based inside a two-story 24,000 square foot building, the facilities also boast five dance studios, a 200-seat performance space and various classrooms.

Jada’s attendance at the event marks her first public outing since the 94th Academy Awards ceremony, where Will Smith stormed the stage to smack Chris Rock following a joke about Jada’s shaved head. The 50-year-old has long suffered from the hair-loss disorder alopecia, though reports have suggested that Rock was unaware of this fact.

In a recent announcement, it was revealed that Will would be banned from future Academy events, including the Oscars, for the next 10 years.
