John Singleton Dies Aged 51

John Singleton has died aged 51 after suffering a “major stroke” earlier last week.
His career spanned almost three decades in Hollywood and he was the first African American to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director.
A representative for his family says John passed “peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends.” furthering, “We who have grown up with John, made movies with him, sailed with John and laughed with John, know the universe of calm and creativity he created for so many. Now in the wake of his death, we must navigate the storm without him. It is, for us, heartbreaking.”
He suffered a stroke after returning from Costa Rica when he experienced problems with his legs; John checked himself into the hospital where he suffered the stroke in his room.
He’s survived by his mother and seven children.
Rest in Peace.
