Owen Wilson Absent From 1-Year-Old Daughter’s Life

Owen Wilson hasn’t met his 1-year-old daughter nor does he try, according to his former girlfriend.

His ex-girlfriend, Varunie Vongsvirates, has given an interview to Daily Mail in which she explains that Owen is “not involved at all” with her daughter’s life.

According to Vongsvirates, Wilson does contribute financially, but says it’s “never been about that,” and expresses that “Lyla needs a father. It’s ironic how [Owen] keeps getting these father roles, he’s playing a father in his new movie, and he’s never met his own daughter.”

The 50-year-old and Varunie were in a relationship for 5 years, and after their split, no contact was made during nor after Lyla’s birth — but in June 2018, Wilson took a paternity test which allegedly didn’t rule him out from being the father.

He allegedly, at the time, signed off legal documentation making it clear that he wasn’t interested in custody or visitation of Lyla — born in October 2018 as Lyla Aranya Wilson.

One clear message that Varunie has for Owen is, “You should see your daughter, she’s incredible, you’re really missing out. She looks just like you.”

The Wedding Crashers star has two other children from previous relationships; in 2011 he and Jade Duell welcomed Robert Ford Wilson in Hawaii after two years of dating. Wilson then had another child with Caroline Lindqvist during her divorce.

When his first son was born, he sat down for an interview with Jay Leno to promote Hall Pass, when he said, “He’s not, I wouldn’t say, a wonderful conversationalist at this point, but he kind of doesn’t have to be, he’s so cute. He becomes sort of a little scene-stealer when he comes in the room. [He’s like] Steve McQueen in The Magnificent Seven, where he didn’t have a lot of dialogue … you just kind of gave him the camera and he was able to hold the screen. I feel like Ford is heading in that direction.”

Owen also discussed his sleep schedule since having a child, saying, “What they say about newborns and not getting a lot of sleep, that’s true. You look at every place as a potential nap place. I’m looking at this couch, maybe at commercial break [I’ll take a] little shut-eye there.”
