Rip Torn Of Men In Black Dies Aged 88

Rip Torn, best known for his role as Artie on HBO‘s The Larry Sanders Show has died aged 88. 

The Emmy-winning actor and comedian died on Tuesday, but no caused of death has been released.

In 1984 he was an Oscar nominee for Cross Creek, and won an Emmy for his Larry Sanders role — nominated a total of six times. In 1956, he made his film debut with Baby Doll, and since then he became an on-screen and stage icon.

He played Zed in the first two Men in Black films, and was also in 30 Rock and Will & Grace.

Rip’s full name was Elmore Rual Torn Jr. but adopted his most memorable nickname Rip when he was younger.

He is survived by his wife Amy, 6 children, his sister Patricia and four grandchildren.
