American golfer Scottie Scheffler wins the first major of his career at the Masters over the weekend.

Scheffler held off a late charge from Rory McIlroy to take it down to the wire.

The 25-year-old admitted to feeling “pretty tired” after four days of competition.

“I want to go home! I’m pretty tired right now – I’m really at a loss for words right now,” said Scheffler. “I can’t thank my family enough – they’ve made many sacrifices over the years.

“To have the honour of winning the tournament and to have my family with my was incredible.”

Scheffler is the first player to win four times in a PGA tour season by the end of the Masters since David Duval.

He has comfortably affirmed his place as the world number one.
