‘Shang-Chi’ Sequel In Development

A sequel to Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings is officially in development.

According to Deadline, the director of the original film, Destin Daniel Cretton, will also helm the sequel. The new picture will fall under a new overall deal signed between Marvel Studios and Hulu’s Onyx Collective.

Cretton is also currently working on a new MCU series for Disney+.

Under the overall deal, Cretton will produce multiple television projects across all related platforms, including Hulu and Disney+.

Destin is a powerhouse storyteller with impeccable taste in material,” said Freeform & Onyx Collective president, Tara Duncan.

“As we continue to expand our roster, Destin’s unique voice will help usher in an exciting slate of content for our global audience.”

Shang-Chi was released in the US on September 3. Starring Simu Liu as the titular hero, accompanied by Awkwafina, Michele Yeoh and Tony Leung, the film has grossed over $430 million at the global box office.
