Will Smith Reveals “Miserable” Jada Pinkett Smith Marriage Is No Longer Monogamous

Will Smith has shared that himself and Jada Pinkett Smith have both had other sexual relationships throughout their marriage.
In a new interview with GQ, Will revealed that his marriage was initially monogamous but decided to have an open marriage as they were “both miserable and clearly something had to change.”
He also admitted that both he and his wife have engaged in other sexual relationships, following public scrutiny after rapper August Alsina claimed that he had a relationship with Jada with Will’s permission.
“Jada never believed in conventional marriage,” Will says, “Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship. So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up.”

“There were significant endless discussions about, what is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple? And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection.”
“We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everybody has to find their own way. And marriage for us can’t be a prison.”
“I don’t suggest this road for anybody,” Will notes, “but the experiences that the freedoms that we’ve given one another and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love.”
