Alec Baldwin has accidentally fatally shot a crew member and injured one other with a prop gun on the set of upcoming film Rust.

According to Sante Fe Country Sheriff’s Office, Baldwin accidentally killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza, after firing a prop gun on the set of the film on Thursday.

After the incident, Hutchins was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but sadly passed away from her injuries.

Souyza was also transported to a nearby hospital and is currently being treated for injuries which are believed to be none life-threatening.

A statement released by the film’s production company Rust Movies Productions LLC to Deadline reads: “The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones.”

Tributes have poured in for Hutchins on social media, including one from the sister of late actor Brandon Lee, who died in 1993 on the set of The Crow, after he was fatally shot with a prop gun.

“Our hearts go out to the family of Halyna Hutchins and to Joel Souza and all involved in the incident on “Rust”. No one should ever be killed by a gun on a film set. Period,” Shannon Lee, wrote on Brandon‘sTwitter.
