Andrew Tate has been banned from Facebook and Instagram for violating Meta’s policies.

The 35-year-old former kickboxer began rising to fame in 2016 after being removed from Channel 5‘s Big Brother show after a clip of him allegedly hitting a woman surfaced. Tate has grown his following on social media maxing out at 4.7 million on Instagram before his account was shutdown.

In recent months, online users have started campaigns to get his accounts banned as Tate‘s views and opinions on women have become “a genuine threat to young men” according to Joe Mulhall, director of research at Hope Not Hate.

Recent comments from various videos posted by Andrew include, “I’m a realist and when you’re a realist you’re sexist. There’s no way you can be rooted in reality and not be sexist.” before stating that there was “no such thing as an independent female”, calling women “intrinsically lazy”.

Other controversial statements made by the influencer include, “If I have responsibility over her, then I must have a degree of authority. You can’t be responsible for a dog if it doesn’t obey you.”
