Evan Rachel Wood Says She’s “Not Scared” Of Marilyn Manson Lawsuit

Evan Rachel Wood says she’s “not scared” of the defamation lawsuit filed against her by Marilyn Manson.
The 34-year-old actress named Manson – her former fiancé – as her abuser in February 2021. She is one of a number of women to accuse the singer of sexual, physical and psychological abuse.
Wood has since produced a two-part documentary entitled Phoneix Rising which focuses on her allegations and her pursuit of justice.
The first part of the new HBO series debuted at Sundance Film Festival in January, making headlines for including Wood’s claim that she was “essentially raped” whilst filming the music video for Manson’s single Heart-Shaped Glasses.
Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, responded to Wood’s allegations earlier this month by filing a defamation lawsuit. In it, he accuses Wood of conspiring a “malicious falsehood” that had “derailed” his career and claims she impersonated an FBI agent in order to distribute fabricated letters that supported the idea he was dangerous.
Addressing the lawsuit during an appearance on The View, Wood stated: “I’m not scared.”
“I am sad, because this is how it works. This is what pretty much every survivor that tries to expose someone in a position of power goes through, and this is part of the retaliation that keeps survivors quiet.” She said, “This is why people don’t want to come forward. This was expected.”
“I am very confident that I have the truth on my side and that the truth will come out. This clearly timed before the documentary… I’m not doing this [film] to clear my name. I’m doing this to protect people. I’m doing this to sound the alarm that there is a dangerous person out there and I don’t want anybody getting near him.”
Wood added, “So people can think whatever they want about me. I have to let the legal process run its course, and I’m steady as a rock.”
