James Gunn Wants A Harley Quinn And Groot Crossover

James Gunn admitted that he had “talked to both the heads of Marvel and DC” about a potential franchise crossover between the character of Groot and Harley Quinn.

Gunn confessed his “pie in the sky dream” in an interview for Jake’s Takes.

“I would really be happy to do a Harley Quinn and Groot. That would be exciting for me. And not only have I thought about that, but I’ve actually talked about that to the heads of both Marvel and DC.” Said Gunn. “Everybody’s open to everything but whether anything would ever happen, who knows.”

“The idea of being able to bring Marvel and DC together in a movie is… that would be really fun for me. And I know it’s exciting for even the heads of Marvel and DC to think about.” He went on. “Its something we all like to dream about, whether we could ever get through the barrage, the Berlin Wall of lawyers we would need to get through to ever make something like that happen, I don’t know. But it would be a blast.”

The 54-year-old director is currently awaiting the release of his highly anticipated Suicide Squad film. The new feature stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney. The film arrives in cinemas on July 30.

“I could also get behind a Rocket, Groot, King Shark and Weasel movie.” Gunn also added. “That would be fantastic as well, I think.”
