Rapper Snootie Wild Shot And Killed In Houston

Memphis rapper Snootie Wild has died following a shooting in Houston on Friday (February 25).

According to ABC 13, Wild sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was discovered inside a ditch beside an SUV. Though he was allegedly still alive when authorities arrived on the scene, Wild died from his injuries later on Friday.

“It looks like he backed in there (the ditch) accidentally. Then the other vehicle pulled up, and folks got out of the car,” said one Houston police officer. “They were talking for a little bit, and then all of a sudden, gunfire went off. Only one shot, actually.”

The death of Wild – born LePreston Porter – marks the second Memphis rapper to be gunned down in recent months, following the death of Young Dolph in November.

Wild’s tragic passing was confirmed in an Instagram post yesterday: “Gone in body, but your NAME & LEGACY will love forever! ? #TeamYayo4Life”.

Following the news, a number of figures took to social media to pay tribute to the Yayo artist.

“Rest In Peace @SnootieWild it’s not safe to be a rapper nomo,” wrote King Roy.

“Rest in peace snootie wild, many a night were soundtracked by “yayo” and “made me” and more,” posted writer Brandon Caldwell. “Thing about Memphis rap is, they craft unorthodox stars. it may not be billboard smashes but they have the clubs the streets and beyond.”

“Been a tough last few months for Memphis hip-hop,” said Trevor Trout. “RIP Snootie Wild.”

“Rest In Peace snootie wild,” wrote Juicy J.

Rest in Peace, Snootie Wild.
