‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ To End Next Year

After eighteen years, Ellen DeGeneres has announced that the next season of her talk show will be the last.
The show has been mired for months by allegations of misconduct in the work place.
An internal investigation was launched by WarnerMedia after a report by BuzzFeed featured accusations of racism and toxicity from former employees.
Three producers were fired and DeGeneres issued an apology, but the ratings suffered a decline.
Now in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, DeGeneres says her decision came from a creative standpoint and was not a result of the allegations.
“If I was quitting the show because of that, I wouldn’t have come back for this season. So it’s not why I’m stopping but it was hard.”
She said, “as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore. I need something new to challenge me.”
DeGeneres discussed her decision further with Oprah Winfrey.
Winfrey expressed pride in DeGeneres for “trusting your instincts”
“A lot of people around you wanna keep that train moving and want you to keep going, and only you know.”
