Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively pledge to match up to $1 million in donations to aid Ukrainian refugees.

In a social media post on Saturday (February 26), Reynolds wrote: “In 48 hours, countless Ukrainians were forced to flee their homes to neighbouring countries. They need protection. when you, donate, we’ll match it up to $1,000,000, creating double the support.”

Reiterating their promise on Lively’s Instagram, the 34-year-old actress wrote: “@vancityreynolds and I are doubling every dollar donated to @usaforunhcr up to $1,000,000.”

“@usaforunhcr is on the ground helping the 50,000+ Ukrainians who had to flee their homes in less than 48 hours. @usaforunhcr is providing life-saving aid, and also working with neighbouring countries to ensure protection for these families.”

The promise from the A-list couple comes as the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues to escalate. The UN believes that approximately 500,000 refugees have fled the country as of February 28, with the EU and neighbouring nations expecting millions more to follow.
