Trevor Noah Says Kanye West Should Be Counselled ‘Not Cancelled’

Trevor Noah has responded to news of Kanye West’s removal from the Grammy Awards.
The 44-year-old rapper was scheduled to perform during the 64th awards ceremony on April 3. However, a report from the Blast revealed that organisers had since removed him from the lineup due to “concerning online behaviour”.
West was handed a 24-hour suspension from Instagram after using a racial slur in a post directed at Noah last week. His comments came in response to a recent episode of The Daily Show, in which Noah criticised his behaviour towards Kim Kardashian.
“What she’s going through is terrifying to watch,” said the host. “What we’re seeing is one of the most powerful, one of the richest women in the world, unable to get her ex to stop texting her, to stop chasing her, to stop harassing her.”
Commenting on West’s initial post targeting him, Noah wrote: “It breaks my heart to see you like this.”
“You’re an indelible part of my life Ye,” he added. “Which is why it breaks my heart to see you like this. I don’t care if you support Trump and I don’t care if you roast Pete. I do however care when I see you on a path that’s dangerously close to peril and pain.”
Now, in apparent defence of the Donda artist, Noah wrote on Twitter following the Grammy’s decision: “I said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye.”

There is some speculation that the decision to cancel West’s performance was, in part, due to Noah’s position as host at the ceremony.
