‘West Side Story’ Star Rachel Zegler “Not Invited” To Oscars

West Side Story star Rachel Zegler has revealed that she was “not invited” to attend this year’s Oscars ceremony.
The musical, helmed by Steven Spielberg, is nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress for Ariana DeBose. Zegler starred in the Romeo & Juliet-inspired story as Maria, the star-crossed lover of Ansel Elgort’s character, Tony.
The 20-year-old actress made the surprising Oscars revelation on Sunday, posting a series of pictures in celebration of the first quarter of 2022.

Responding to one Instagram user in the comments section who expressed excitement over her planned Oscars outfit, Zegler replied: “I’m not invited so sweatpants and my boyfriend’s flannel.”
Elaborating further following outrage from fans, Zegler wrote: “Idk y’all I have tried it all but it doesn’t seem to be happening. I will root for West Side Story from my couch and be proud of the work we so tirelessly did 3 years ago.”
“I hope some last-minute miracle occurs and I can celebrate our film in person,” she added. “But hey, that’s how it goes sometimes, I guess. Thanks for all the shock and outrage – I’m disappointed, too. but that’s okay. so proud of our movie.”
The 94th Academy Awards are due to take place on March 27. Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes will host the ceremony.
